What is Feminist Art? at Lawrence A Fleischman Gallery

< Back to Our Portfolio

What is Feminist Art? Lawrence A Fleischman Gallery SCOPE OF WORK SIE was responsible for the planning, editing, design, graphic production, and installation of What Is Feminist Art? for the Archives of American Art at the Lawrence A Fleischman Gallery (located in the building that houses the Smithsonian American Art Museum and the National Portrait Gallery). The exhibition showcases two sets of responses to the question posed in the title. The original responses are from 1976, when feminist activists Ruth Iskin, Lucy Lippard, and Arlene Raven prompted artists to answer this provocative question for an exhibition at the Woman’s Building in Los Angeles. In 2019, the Archives of American Art asked contemporary artists as well as some of the original artists to respond to the same question.
