NMAAHC Rail Car Rail and Pylons

Rail Car Rail and Pylons National museum OF african american history and culture (NMAAHC) SCOPE OF WORK SIE was responsible for the graphic production, fabrication, and installation of the reader rail and two pylons with directional signage. As part of this process, SIE provided shop drawings and materials samples for NMAAHC to review and approve. As part of our final package, we included drawings and instructions on how to access the interior of the rails.

Backlit Reader Rail

Reader rail

SIE built the rail based on a design provided by NMAAHC.

The rail content highlights the differences between the segregated sections of the train car.

Exhibit specialist Enrique Dominguez detailed and produced the rail components. SIE sourced
ready-to-use light panels for the backlit graphics. The rail was powder-coated to match
existing components in that gallery.

Directional signage showing which way to enter and exit.

Directional signage shows which way to enter and exit the exhibit. SIE built the pylons with steel faces. The signage is applied with magnets, making it easy to remove and replace.
